Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan is dead .Annan passed on while undergoing treatment in Switzerland.
Annan died at the age of 80 and according to a statement issued by the family of the diplomat died with his family by his side.
The International Organization of Migration IOM tweeted mourning the fallen diplomat.

Kofi Annan who was born in Ghana was the 7th UN secretary general and the founder of the Kofi Annan foundation which has mourned the fallen diplomat.

Kofi Annan was instrumental in the negotiation of peace between former president Mwai Kibaki and NASA leader Raila Odinga in 2008 following the post-election chaos that rocked the country after the disputed 2007 polls.
