Police nab bhang worth 500,000 in Voi

Taita Taveta, KENYA: Police in Voi, Taita Taveta County, netted 2,140 rolls of bhang worth half a million on Thursday.

Confirming the incident, Voi OCPD Joseph Chesire said the police who were on normal patrol along Mombasa-Nairobi highway netted the bhang at Ndara area while on transit to Mombasa from Nairobi.

“The bhang was being transported to Mombasa from Nairobi, the officers waved down the vehicle and upon searching , they recovered two sacks loaded with 2140 rolls of bhang,” said Chesire.

Chesire said the suspect who was arrested in connection with the consignment will be arraigned in court on Friday.

He said the police are on high alert to nub illegal firearms ,drugs and other illegal items being smuggled through the high way, warning that those found engaging in illegal business will be arrested and charged in court.

“We have arrested the culprit, he is in custody and he is to appear before court tomorrow so we are going on with the normal operation not only bhang but also illegal items e.g firearms and drugs so all those found will be arrested and taken to court,” he said.
