Sh.600 million set aside to renovate Mama Ngina and Pirates

Mombasa,KENYA:Sh 600 million has been set aside to renovate the Mama ngina public park and Jomo Kenyatta public beach.

This is acccording to the Tourism cabinet secretary Najib Balala who was speaking following a closed door meeting  following a closed door meeting with Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho where the  two pledged to work together to complement development projects.

The meeting which was also attended by among others  Environment and forestry Cabinet secretary Keriako Tobiko, Wildlife PS Maragaret Mwakima and Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, saw the two political nemesis bury the hatchet and pledge towwards working together.

“ The handshake did magic and as you well know Balala is from Mombasa so in all of his plans, Mombasa will be in his heart” Joho said.

Mombasa regeneration

Balala who congratulated the county government over efforts to give Mombasa a new face  said the national government was in the process of replicating the Nairobi regeneration initiative  in Mombasa.

According to Balala , the team would hold their first meeting on the 14th of September where a team would be appointed to spearhead the initiative based  Mombasa county priority areas.

“ The national  government is here to complement the efforts of running the county government “ Balala said.

Balala hinted that the he would co-chair the project together with Mombasa.

This comes amidst a project  rehabilitate walkways and repaint old buildings in the county so as to give  city a new look.
