Mombasa,KENYA: Mombasa County could soon ban the sell of Mogoka.

Miritini ward MCA Kibwana Swaleh said a meeting has been set for next week to decide the fate of Mogoka in Mombasa.

According to Kibwana, Mogoka has had negative influence especially among young people in Mombasa.

Kibwana who also chairs the health committee at the County Assembly, said the drug is being sold to Children as young as 14 years old who later engage in petty crimes to raise money to buy the drug.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting to sensitize on Drug abuse organized by Reach out center in Mombasa, the Miritini MCA  said Children are skipping school to chew mogoka the whole day.

“These days small Children chew mogoka instead of going to school. Mogoka is cheap hence they can easily get them’, he said.

He also claimed many young people in Mombasa shun getting married because they are fully absorbed in chewing mogoka and become wasted.
