Mombasa, KENYA: A Man accused of killing his wife and a daughter in Mombasa was detained for ten days to allow police complete investigations.
Court heard that Chilele Nyamawi Shamakame locked the door from outside and set blaze their house causing the death of his wife Betty Kitii and his daughter Esther Chilele.
Justice Dorah Chepkwony ordered the suspect detained at Makupa police station until 6th August 2018, in order to allow police officers to record statements from the witnesses.
Shamakame is alleged to set ablaze to their house after he had a dispute with the family.
The suspect is alleged to have committed the offense on 11th July in Tudor area in Mombasa County.
“I allow the suspect to be detained for ten days to allow police complete investigation and also postmortem done to the deceased persons,” said Justice Chepkwony.
The incident is similar to a man who set ablaze his family after a quarrel with the wife in Majengo Mapya Likoni Sub County. He later on succumbed to fire injuries at Coast General Hospital.
