Court releases officers accused of killing British Aristocrat

Mombasa, KENYA: Three police officers accused of killing British Aristocrat Alexander Monson were on Thursday released on bond.

Naftali Chege, Charles Munyiri and Ismael Baraka were released on a surety bond of Sh.1 million each or a cash bail of Sh.500, 000.

Justice Erick Ogola directed that the accused persons should be taken to the investigative officer on 25th July for mental assessment.

Another police officer John Pamba was also charged with murder on Thursday following his arrest early Thursday.

Ogola had issued a warrant of arrest against Pamba after he failed to appear in court.

Mr.Pamba was arrested at Diani in Kwale County and charged in Mombasa.

British Aristocrat Alexander Monson died in 2012 while in police custody after being arrested for allegedly smoking cannabis outside a bar in Diani.
