Brazil stuns Mexico to storm quarters

Moscow, RUSSIA: Brazil have qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup thanks to a 2-0 victory over fellow South Americans Mexico in the round of 16 matches played on Monday.

Goals in either half from Neymar and substitute Roberto Firmino is all that Brazil needed to edge Mexico who drew attention in the tournament following their 1-0 famous victory over Germany in their opening group match.

The win sees Brazil, the most successful country at the World Cup tournament join France, Uruguay, Croatia and hosts Russia in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Round of 16 matches continues on Tuesday where Colombia will play one-time champions England while Sweden will battle Switzerland.
