Dares Salaam,Tanzania:Ugandan born Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere has swapped allegiance to Tanzanian giants Simba from Kenyan Premier League reigning champions Gor Mahia.
According to multiple reports in Tanzania, the 31-year old striker has signed a two-year contract with Simba on a free transfer since his contract with Gor Mahia is set to expire by the end of June.
His contract with Simba is reported to worth 8 million signing fee with a monthly salary of Sh450,000 which is almost a triple of what he was earning at Gor Mahia.
Efforts to tie the player to a new contract stalled after he tricked Gor Mahia officials that he was heading to Rwanda to renew his passport only for reports to emerge on Monday that he had arrived in Tanzania to join Simba.
Kagere departure might be the beginning of a number of Gor Mahia star players leaving the club as sources indicate that midfielder Francis Kahata, forwards George Odhiambo and Jacques Tuyisenge are also being monitored by the Tanzanian clubs.
Gor Mahia are sitting comfortably at the top of the Kenyan Premier League table standings with 43 points, nine ahead of second placed Sofapaka who have played three matches more.
