Malindi,KENYA: Malindi supporters of the Orange Democratic Movement have threatened to recall the Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa should she continue supporting deputy president William Ruto’s bid for the presidency in 2022.

Speaking in Malindi town on Sunday, the supporters termed the second time legislator as a traitor saying that she should be straightforward on her plans for the ODM party.

Adamba Rodgers one of the supporters said he would begin to mobilize the collection of signatures to recall Ms. Jumwa.

“ If she does not state categorically on whether she has ditched the party, we will begin collecting signatures to oust her,” Adamba told Baraka FM.

The youths who were demonstrating in Malindi on Sunday, said the only people who could give them direction on whether to ditch their allegiance for the ODM party were the Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi.

The party members further lauded the Minority Chief whip Junet Mohamed for writing to the speaker of the National Assembly.

This comes just a time when the Malindi legislator is in a tight support over her open support for Ruto’s 2022 bid to statehouse.

A few weeks ago, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna threatened to take action against the party members who were openly supporting the Deputy president’s bid saying that the party had not yet given the way forward on their 2022 preferred candidate.

However, Jumwa has denied the existence of any tensions between her and the party leadership saying that what she was doing was in line with the handshake.
