Nairobi, KENYA: Nairobi County Assembly has rejected the Nomination of Miguna Miguna as the deputy governor for Nairobi.

The assembly led by speaker Beatrice Elachi on Thursday denied Sonko’s appointee after it emerged that, Miguna hold dual citizenship which is contrary to Article 78 of the constitution.

“According to the Standing order number one of the Assembly, the name of the nominee be referred back to the appointing authority for further validation,” Elachi Said.

The speaker added that other important documents that include Higher Education Loans Board clearance certificate, certificate of good conduct and Kenya Revenue Authority compliance, were not issued.

The governor of Nairobi nominated Miguna as his deputy in a letter to Elachi saying, Miguna meets all Constitutional requirements.

This action later sparked mixed reactions in his aligned Jubilee party members as well as some of his county assembly leaders who vowed to reject Miguna nomination.
