Singer Bahati who doubles up as the president of EMB record label has rejected the hos nomination for a 2018 groove award.
Bahati who made the announcement n his Instagram requested the event organizers to rub out his name in the nomination list in order to pave way for new artistes.
“I BEG TO STEP DOWN IN THIS YEARS GROOVE AWARDS. Thank you for honoring Me as Bahati & EMB with Various Award Nominations but I humbly request the Public to Support the rest of the nominees as We all Know my desire to Support New Artists since Day 1.” part of the statement read.
Bahati who last participated in the awards in 2015 was nominated in the song of the year and Collabo of the year categories.
Bahati maintained his focus is to bring continental awards by uplifting other artistes through his recording label.
“My last participation in Groove was in 2015 and I thank God for Favoring me with 4 major Awards including the Male Artist of the Year and I believe it’s Time for another New Talent to be Awarded as I work, Push & Pray to God that we will bring a Continental Award in Kenya Soon; A BET, a Grammy Maybe. This year’s groove awards in conjunction with Safaricom will see public participation more diverse with public voting kicking off on Friday 8th June 2018 at 10 a.m. and will run until midnight 23rd June 2018.
Fans can vote via SMS by sending the word ‘Groove’ followed by your nominee code to 811, or by dialing *811# and following the prompts, or via the website www.grooveawards.co.ke.
The winners will be announced on 24th June 2018 at a gala awards ceremony to be held in Nairobi with the theme for the grove award being Rebuild, Restore, reclaim.,
