17  more NYS scandal suspects detained till Tuesday

Mombasa,KENYA:17 more NYS scandal suspects have been detained until Tuesday when the Anti-corruption magistrate Douglas Ogoti would rule on whether they would be released on cash bails.

This is according to an announcenent from the office of the director of public prosecutions.

The 17 suspects who were arraigned in court on Monday  were charged with fraudulent acquisition of property,Conspiracy to defraud the NYS, neglect of public duty and abuse of office, 5. Fraudulent payments for goods not supplied to NYS ,Willful failure not to comply with government  financial & procurement procedures.

14 out of the 17 suspects pleaded not guilty at  before the Mlimani anti corruption magistrate Douglas Ogoti.

The 17 are among the  over 20 suspects who failed show up in court on Tuesday last week but instead sent their lawyers.

The court has also issued an arrest warrant for two suspects who refused to show up in  court on Monday after their lawyer Kiraithe Wandugi failed to give a concrete explanation on why they had missed court.

The court is also expected to rule if 24 more suspects  who include PS Lillian Omollo and NYS Director general Richard Ndubai would be released on bail.
