Mombasa,KENYA:A British pensioner and charity owner has been convicted of raping two girls at a hotel in Kilifi county.
72-year-old Keith Morris was convicted of four counts of rape,three counts of assault by penetration and four counts of sexual assault by the Leeds crown court in West Yorkshire ,England.
The court had heard in an earlier hearing from one of the victims who testified via live link from Mombasa that the pensioner had tried to influence the two girls from testifying.
During the two week trial,the victim who was reported by British media as a 15-year-old teenager told the court that Morris had done ‘bad things’ to her and another girl warning her that she would be in trouble if she told other people.
The victim also told the court that Morris had paid for her mouth ulcers treatment and also helped finance her family.
Morris who used to run a charity organization in Kilifi for over twenty years, used to buy clothes and other personal items to young girls in Kilifi and he would occasionally invite them to his hotel room.
A cross border investigation into the incident was launched after the Hotel matron saw him going inside the his room with two underage girls.
Morris committed the crimes between 2016 and 2017 and he was arrested after he returned to the UK in February 2017.
Morris is set to be sentenced on 17th July.
