The Billboard Music awards went down on Saturday at the MGM Grand theater in Las Vegas.
The awards saw artistes like Ed Sheran, Taylor swift,Kendrick Lamar, Dadee Yankee,Cardi B and Tasha Cobbs bag awards.
But pop artiste Janet Jackson made history after she became the first black female artiste to receive the billboard Icon music award owing to her contribution to pop music following in the footsteps of past winners like Stevie Wonder,Prince,Jennifer Lopez and Celine Dion.
And as she was was making history in African American entertainment, Janet choose to represent Africa in her style.
Janet slayed in a Masaai choker blended with South African chokers to accessorize her gold themed outfit.
Janet also slayed in Samburu Moran bangles coupled with a South African bangle.
Janet who received the award from Bruno mars also performed wearing those beads in the TV streamed event.
It was Janet’s second TV performance in nearly 14 years since the infamous nipple-gate scandal that saw her nipple flashed across millions of viewers who were watching the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime performance in 2014.
Masaai, Samburu and Turkana jewelry has always been considered among the most attractive African jewelry.
Other non Kenyan celebrities who have rocked the beads in the past include Jamaican singer Alaine, South African duo Mafikizolo and South African songbird Nokwazi.
