Taita Taveta, KENYA: Learning at Lotima Primary school, Taveta, has been paralyzed due to heavy rains pounding Taita Tavera County.
This was after a bridge connecting the area to the learning institution swept away by floods Thursday evening blocking more than 150 pupils from accessing the institution.
The situation has been worsened by the fact that the canal is full of crocodiles.
The school’s headteacher has called on well-wishers to help with food, blankets, mattress, nets among other social amenities to assist the pupils who have been blocked from leaving the institution.
Taveta Education Officer Hassan Abdurahman called upon parents to keep their children at home until the rains subside.
He said the bridge has been rendered impassable.
Other affected schools in Taveta sub-counties are Kiwalwa primary and Abori.
