Mombasa, KENYA: A man who has been terrorizing residents in Likoni sub -County with a stolen G3 rifle was on Friday found guilty of robbery with violence charges and being in possession of firearm and ammunition without a licence.

Court found that Rama Ali Bamama alias Bakari Rashid Mwambevu broke into the house of a police constable Alexander Kipyegomen and stole a G3 rifle loaded with twenty rounds of ammunition in July 2016.

Mr. Bamama will also serve a sentence of stealing from Margaret Otundo’s property worth sh.222, 000 and Koshi Mohamed cash Ksh.16,000 while armed with a gun and threatened to use actual harm against the two complainants.

“From the evidence, it’s clear that the firearm was found in the house of an accused person and he did not prove that it belonged to him,” ruled chief magistrate Erick Makori.

Mr.Makori said that the stolen gun has been terrorizing residents in Likoni and it was involved in different robbery with violence cases in the area.

Bamama earlier stated that the house where the firearm was recovered belonged to a witch doctor and he had gone for treatment.

But the court dismissed his evidence saying he did not have evidence to show he had gone for treatment at the house

The court will give a sentence on Monday after prosecution requested more time to find out if Mr.Bamama has a conviction record.
