Nairobi, KENYA: Budget airline Jambojet has introduced a special fare offer that will see its passengers pay for tickets to any local destination for as low as sh.2,200.

This sale comes as Jambojet celebrates four years since it began operating.

“As we celebrate our fourth birthday, we’re pleased to officially launch this promotional fare that’s in line with our mantra of enabling more Kenyans to fly to all their desired destinations affordably,” Willem Hondius, the CEO said in a statement sent to newsrooms on Monday.

10,000 seats will be going for sh2,200 during the 72-hour sale which begins Tuesday (today) for flights between Nairobi and Mombasa, Ukunda, Malindi, Kisumu Eldoret.

The offer also applies to Nairobi – Entebbe route with passengers getting tickets at sh. 7,330.

This comes as Jambojet had its first inaugural flight to Entebbe, Uganda in February in a bid to expand its market in the region; becoming the first regional low-cost airline.

According to a report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2017, African airlines’ traffic was expected to grow by up to 9.9 per cent annually.

The report noted African airports continue to record positive performance, welcoming an increase in international arrivals that currently stand at 14 per cent.
