Gold Coast, AUSTRALIA: Olympic and world reigning champion Conseslus Kipruto led compatriots to sweep the podium in the 3000m steeplechase race in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Australia on Friday.

Kipruto crossed the line in 8:10.08 setting a new record in the race with Kibiwott coming second and Amos Kirui third in a 1-2-3 win for Kenya.

The previous record of 8:10.44 was set by another Kenyan Jonathan Muia in 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

This is the second gold for Kenya in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games after Wycliffe Kinyamal gave the country its first gold medal on Thursday in his 800m race victory.
