Thugs on motorcycle rob mpesa shop in Ukunda

Kwale,KENYA:Police in Kwale county have launched a manhunt of three robbers who escaped with an unkown amount of money from an M-pesa shop in Ukunda , Kwale County.

According to Msambweni police boss Joseph Chebusit, the incident occurred on Monday about about 8am.
Chebusit told Baraka FM that the three robbers got into the shop located at Green Field Petrol Station at 8.30am posing as customers and ordered everybody to lie down before they took the money and left.
No one was injured in the incident.

“We were informed by the members of the public of the robbery incident and our officers rushed to the scene but the robbers had already left on a motorbike” he said.

The incident comes barely a week after gunmen shot dead two people including a politician and his friend at Kilalopwa village in Ukunda.

Mr Chebusit said police have upped the war on armed crime as part of efforts to curb the use of illegal firearms.

“We are always on alert to cover our area when an incident occurs,” he said, adding that they are working to l minimise the trend of guns being handled by the wrong people.
