Kwale,KENYA:More than 39 passengers of  have escaped death  narrowly after the bus they were travelling in  caught fire near Mwashetani  high school  in Lunga Lunga sub-county in Kwale county.

According to eye witnesses the incident occurred on Thursday 5th April at about 8:am .

The bus was heading to Dares Salaam Tanzania from Mombasa.

Confirming the incident Lunga Lunga deputy county commissioner Joseph Biwott said there were no casualties and the passengers managed to  save  20% of their luggage from the burning bus.

“We suspect that  the incident was caused by  wiring problem in the vehicle” Biwot said.

He advised drivers to inspect their vehicles thoroughly before departure.

The bus company  which last year rolled out a fleet of new buses has not yet commented over the matter.

In December 2014 more than 40 passengers escaped death after a  bus they were travelling in caught fire in Kyulu area of Makueni county.
