Kwale,KENYA:More than 39 passengers of have escaped death narrowly after the bus they were travelling in caught fire near Mwashetani high school in Lunga Lunga sub-county in Kwale county.
According to eye witnesses the incident occurred on Thursday 5th April at about 8:am .
The bus was heading to Dares Salaam Tanzania from Mombasa.
Confirming the incident Lunga Lunga deputy county commissioner Joseph Biwott said there were no casualties and the passengers managed to save 20% of their luggage from the burning bus.
“We suspect that the incident was caused by wiring problem in the vehicle” Biwot said.
He advised drivers to inspect their vehicles thoroughly before departure.
The bus company which last year rolled out a fleet of new buses has not yet commented over the matter.
In December 2014 more than 40 passengers escaped death after a bus they were travelling in caught fire in Kyulu area of Makueni county.
