Man accused of conning MP’s to be arraigned in court

Nairobi,KENYA:A man who has been accused of extorting money from several MP’s  and high profile government officials is expected to be arraigned in court on Tuesday.

This is following his arrest in Tanzania over the Easter weekend.

Benson Waziri Chacha Masumbo was on Sunday arrested in a hotel in Tarime 20 kilometres from the Isibania border town in Migori county.

According to the Directorate of criminal investigations George Kinoti, Masubo who had stayed in the hotel for 10 days  was enroute to the Democratic republic of Congo .

Masubo was nabbed following coordinated effort between Kenyan and Tanzanian detectives.

Masubo who was driven for over 12 hours from Tanzania is being detained at the Muthaiga police station.

Masubo is accused of registering an MPESA account using the ID card of the Muranga county women represenatitve Sabina Chege which he used to con several people who include National assembly speaker Justin Muturi, Cabinet secretaries  Peter Munya, Margaret Kobia and Eugene Wamalawa and the National assembly speaker Peter Munya.
