Sniffer dogs to secure Likoni as crackdown on suspected criminal gangs intensifies

Mombasa,KENYA:Sniffer dogs  will be dispatched to monitor the security situation  at the Likoni crossing chanell during the upcoming Easter holidays.

 This is according to the Mombasa county commissioner Evans Achoki who on Wednesday assured both residents and tourist of safety during Esther celebrations.

Mr.Achoki who was speaking after meeting with Mombasa security heads identified areas that the security will be enhanced during celebrations.

‘The areas we have identified  where  we will ensure adequate security include beaches, night spots and concerts’said Achoki.

He called upon religious leaders to work closely with the OCS to ensure security is enhanced during night vigil.

Mr.Achoki warned bar operators who will operate beyond the licensed time which is  11:00PM  that legal action would be taken against them.

He added that armed officers will be on board on all ferries operating at Likoni.

This remark comes amidst an intensified crackdown on suspected criminal gangs operating in Likoni sub-county.

Three young men suspected to be members of the  notorious Wakali Kwanza and Wakali Wao criminal gangs  operating in Likoni have been gunned down since Monday.
