Nairobi, KENYA: Stanley Okumbi has been relieved of his duties as Harambee Stars head coach in the wake of the 3-2 defeat the team suffered at the hands of Central African Republic in an international friendly match played in Marrakech, Morocco on Tuesday.

According a statement by the Football Kenya Federation FKF Okumbi has since been demoted to handle the U-20 team where he will be assisted by Wazito FC head coach Frank Ouna.

Okumbi was appointed to manage Harambee Stars on interim basis following the exit of Paul Put who resigned in February citing technical issues.

The defeat against Central African Republic came barely three days after Kenya had drawn 2-2 with Comoros in another international friendly match meant to prepare the team for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
