President Kenyatta appoints Noordin Mohammed as next DPP

Nairobi, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday appointed Noordin Mohammed Haji as the new Direct of public prosecution (DPP)

Through his twitter account President Kenyatta said he has conveyed to the national assembly the nomination for vetting and approval of justice Paul Kihara Kariuki as Attorney General and Noordin Haji as the new DPP.

“ I have conveyed to the national Assembly the nomination for vetting and approvsal of Justice Paul Kihara Kariuki as Attorny Genral;and Noordin Mohamed Haji as Director of of public prosecution” Twitter account read.

This comes after the former DPP Keriako Tobiko was given another post of being Cabinet Secretary for Environment leaving the DPP office vacant.

The DPP selection panel had shortlisted three applicants including Senior Counsel Lucy Kambuni, deputy chief public prosecutor Jacob Ondari .

Noordin is the son of Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji. He has had a career spanning many years at the National Intelligence Service and is currently a senior director.

Uhuru also forwarded the names Harry Kimutai and Alfred Cheruiyot as Principal Secretaries for Livestock and Correctional Services respectively.

Others are Fred Sigor (Irrigation) Jerome Ochieng (ICT), Susan Komen (East African Community) and John Omenge (Mining).

The President further appointed John Musonik as the Chief Administrative Secretary for Petroleum and Mining, Hassan Noor for Sports and Mohamed Elmi for Environment.

He also nominated Richard Ekai, John Ogango and Wilfred Machage as ambassadors.
