Mombasa,KENYA: Coast Regional coordinator Nelson Marwa on Friday called for the closure of strip clubs and shisha joints operating in Mombasa.
Speaking at his offices on Friday, Marwa said strip clubs specifically located in the Nyali area of Mombasa where strippers of Indian descent were arrested last year for promoting immorality in a county with a sizeable Muslim population.
“Let them go and strip in their countries but not in Kenya,” Marwa said.
Marwa called on the Mombasa county government to review the licenses of such clubs.
“We live in a Muslim climate area and the same county government is handing over strip licenses to authorize stripping, what is that?” Marwa posed.
Marwa further threatened to close down the clubs accusing the CEO of the Kenya film and classification board to Ezekiel Mutua of playing public relations in matters concerning curbing immorality in the county.
Marwa’s remarks come just a few days after Mutua called for the closure of such clubs in the county.
Meanwhile, Marwa has ordered police to immediately arrest the owner of the company whose guards were accused of Killing a banker in Nyali area.
He said all guards must be arrested and produced in courts to face murder charges.
“The family must get a lawyer and sue the company, I have information that the said owner of the company is moving around with money trying to bribe our officers but am warning law will take its course,” said Mr.Marwa.
