Lupita Nyongo authors African children book

Academy award winner Lupita Nyong’o is set to release a children’s’ book she is working on by January 2019.

The 34 year old actress who  is featured in Black Panther an majority African cast film set to be released later in the year is set to release her debut book with Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers.
The book is to be titled ‘Sulwe’ which means a star in her native Luo language.

Ms Ny’ongo on Wednesday wrote on her instagram account, “I am pleased to reveal that I have written a children’s book! It’s called “Sulwe”! Sulwe is a dark skinned girl who goes on a starry-eyed adventure, and awakens with a re-imagined sense of beauty. She encounters lessons that we learn as children and spend our lives unlearning.”

Lupita went ahead and wrote “This is a story for little ones, but no matter the age I hope it serves as an inspiration for everyone to walk with joy in their own skin.

Lupita who has been outspoken about the importance of feeling comfortable in her own skin,had recently slammed a magazine for retouching her hair has taken the front role in advocating for African women to be comfortable in dark skin .
Lupita has constantly advocated for Race and diverse Representation in Hollywood and Beyond and in 2014 she revealed that she struggled with self acceptance while growing up owing to her dark skin.
