Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Mombasa have arrested 10 nationals from Pakistan in the coastal town of Mombasa in the ongoing crackdown on illegal businesses.

Detectives said the foreigners were arrested in areas of likoni flats, island and Tudor on Tuesday.

“They have been in the country for the last four years illegally operating illegal businesses,” police said.

Mombasa police chief Johnstone Ipara told reporters at his office the suspects have been operating illegal businesses of sugar, rice and second-hand clothes.

He said one of the suspect’s father was recently arrested in Pakistan for unknown reasons by Pakistan police.

“We can connect the business they have been operating to drugs or any other offenses, we are interrogating them and we will ask more time to hold them, “said the police boss.

The suspects were nabbed following intelligence reports about their illegal business.

He said the suspects have also been operating their illegal business inside their tinted vehicles to evade police arrest.

The suspects are being held at Regional police headquarters as police interrogate them to shed more light on the criminal business.
