Woman rescued after being attacked by boda boda operators

Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Kisauni, Mombasa on Tuesday rescued a suspected con woman from being lynched by irate bodaboda (motorbike) riders.

The woman was confronted by over 100 angry bodaboda riders who accused her of being part of a gang behind the theft of a motorbike.

The suspect identified as Mary Kariuki, 30, got lucky when police responded in time and rescued her.

Police had to fire in the air to scare away the angry bodaboda riders baying for her blood.

Police reports indicate that at least three bodaboda riders have been killed in last few weeks and their bodaboda stolen.

Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich said the woman has been admitted to Coast General Hospital in critical condition.

“Police had to scare away the angry bodaboda from lynching the woman, she was beaten seriously injured,” said police boss.
