Nairobi. KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined other Kenyans to congratulate Harambee Stars on winning the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations CECAFA.
The President through his twitter handle wrote ‘’ well done Harambee Stars, we are very proud of you. Great win’’
Harambee Stare edged Zanzibar 3-2 on post-match penalties to claim the Cecafa title they last won in 2013 when the tournament was held in Kenya.
The match proceeded to shootouts after a two all draw during extra time, with goalkeeper Patrick Matasi emerging the hero after he saved three penalties.
Deputy President William Ruto who was among the cheering fans could not hide his joy as he award the team and the technical bench Sh5m with Cecafa also coughing Sh3m to the winning team.
