Police hunting down 12 criminal gang leaders in Mombasa

Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Mombasa are hunting down 12 criminal gang leaders, two days after top police commanders had a security meeting at Likoni sub-county, where gangs have wrecked havoc among residents.

Police sources and other security agents aware of the suspects told Baraka FM on Thursday the names have been forwarded to special police unit formed to track down the suspects.

The gang leaders are using social media to mobilize their members.

The confidential report also says the suspects have been taking oath in unknown areas within Mombasa before carrying out an attack.

They include;Piper Paparazi, Dara Leekonai,Dony Ally,Hamzo Shakur,Mapesa Don Japengah,Tissah Hana Sharriff,Winkey Dyser,Rama Ali Mwasema,Mohamoud Blase Akidaran,JJ Alonso,Mgenge Ali and Cyphasy King Cyphoo.

Police are considering of mounting images of the 12 suspects in public for easy recognition among the public.

Authorities have linked the 12 leaders with attacks and series of robberies in Likoni, Kisauni and other parts of the city.

All the members are still at large and police considered them as armed and dangerous.

A Multiagency team is working closely to track down the gang members before a three-month ultimatum issued by Mombasa county commissioner Evans Achoki comes to an end.The three-month ultimatum will end on 17th December.

Monday, top security bosses led by Mombasa county commissioner Evans Achoki toured areas suspected to be hideouts of the gangs in Likoni and warned that the three-month ultimatum will not be extended but police will work to wipe out all gangs terrorizing residents.
