Kisumu, KENYA: National men’s soccer team Harambee Stars will have to coast past Les Hirondelles of Burundi to book a slot in the finals of the 2017 the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA).

The two sides lock horn this afternoon at Moi stadium Kisumu in the first semi-final of the tournament with Stars determined to repeat the 2000 success where they overcame Burundi 1-0 in Nairobi.

Elsewhere, the defending champions Uganda will battle the tournament’s dark-horses Zanzibar in the second semi-final hoping to retain the title they won in 2015 when it was held Ethiopia.

Zanzibar has been the team to watch so far following its surprise performance that saw them humble Rwanda 3-1 before downing Tanzania 2-1 to finish second in group A.

Uganda, on the other hand, had to win its last two group matches to qualify for semis after firing blank against Burundi in the opening match.
