Mombasa, KENYA: A couple was on Wednesday night found dead in their house in Shelly beach area, Likoni under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased were identified as engineer Lameck Odingo,47 and his wife Vivian Odingo, 27.

The two were strangled to death according to police reports. They were found blindfolded, their legs and hands tied.

Police said the couple’s three children of age 4,6 and 9 used the house landline telephone at around 1 pm to call their relatives telling them they were hungry as their parents were not around to cook for them.

One of the relatives traveled from Maungu and reported the matter at Likoni police station.

The body of the husband was wrapped and put in the guest room while that of his wife was folded with bedsheets and put in a master room.

The children told police they had taken supper on Tuesday night and they were all happy.

Even yesterday night as police removed the Bodies of the deceased the children could not believe their parents were dead.

They told police they were deep sleep and they hoped they could soon wake up.

Likoni police chief Benjamin Rotich confirmed the incident to Baraka FM on Thursday saying investigations have been launched.

“Getting reports from the husband’s sister who came to the station we arranged with the police who went to the scene and there they broke the house,” said police boss.

“The couple’s cellphones were off and could not be traced up to now,” he added.

“The officers from CID are tracking the same and that could help us in the investigations,” said Mr Rotich.

He said the bodies were lying separately in the rooms but had no injuries.

Police suspect that the couples might have been strangled to death.

The bodies were sent to Coast General hospital morgue awaiting an autopsy.
