NASA launches people’s assembly organizing committee

Nairobi,KENYA:National Super Alliance has launched the organizing committee to oversee the establishment of peoples parliament agenda being pushed by the coalition.

Addressing the media in Nairobi during the launch of the committee, the top leadership of the NASA coalition led by Johnstone Muthama and Bonny Khalwale unveiled people who will mann the committee until their agenda is realized .

Khalwale said the push has been prompted by the usurpation of power by the Jubilee administration and its determined effort to revert the nation to an authoritarian rule and abuse of human rights.

“We assert, as per Article 1 of the constitution, the right of citizens to exercise their sovereignty
at the county level is not subject to supervision or veto by the national government.”Khalwale said

“As we embark on the final pillar of restoring democracy, just government and legitimate
leadership, the following individuals will deliberate on and produce the road map towards
the achievement of those objectives through the People’s Assembly which will lead us to a free
and fair election or the path of self-determination.”He added

Members of the committee include , Dr. David Ndii,Judy Sijeny,Hamida Kibwana,Dr. Mutakha Kangu,Dr. Oduor Ong’wen,Koitamet Olekina,Peter Mathuki.

They blasted the government for blocking NASA leadership from holding a peaceful, memorial service last week in which 26 supporters were allegedly killed by security forces.
He said that the work of the organizing Committee will be to guide, facilitate and co-ordinate the programme of the various assemblies across the country.

It will further set up and oversight a national secretariat that will be the center for the activities of these assemblies among other duties.
