Former CIC chair among Jubilee candidates nominated for EALA slots

Nairobi, KENYA: The former Constitution Implementation Commission chair Charles Nyachae is among the five Jubilee candidates who have been cleared by the clerks of the legislature to face the joint committee in the vetting exercise slated for East Africa Legislative Assembly members’ slots.

Some of the candidates who have been cleared and provided with the provisional certificates include Abdulaziz Ali from Mandera, Simon Mbugua (former Kamukunji Mp)Mpuri Aburi (former Tigania East mp) and Elizabeth Wangui from Nyeri.

Earlier, Jubilee Party presented 15 names of candidates to senate clerk Jeremiah Nyegenye and National Assembly clerk Michael Sialai during the ongoing exercise whereby clerks of both houses as presiding officers, are receiving the lists of EALA nominees from political parties.

Majority leaders Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen (Senate, Elgeyo Marakwet) presided the presentation of the names of the Jubilee party.

“We have five slots and we are submitting fifteen members,” Duale said

Other parties are expected to present names of their candidates to the clerks later on Thursday.

Kenya is supposed to send nine of its chosen representatives to EALA with  the Jubilee Party  expected to be given five slots and NASA four.

National Super Alliance(NASA) is yet to submit its list of nominees to the Clerks of Parliament.
