Police recover bodies of elderly couple dumped in pit latrine

Kilifi, KENYA: Police in Kilifi county have launched investigations into the mysterious killings of an elderly couple whose bodies were found dumped in a pit latrine on Tuesday.

The deceased Rukiya Ghordabakash and Mohideen Abdullahi 72 and 74 were killed by unknown people and their bodies dumped in a pit latrine, police said.

The elderly couple has been practicing farming in the area and has been living alone in their home with their workers.

Kilifi police boss Alexander Makau confirmed the incident saying they are pursuing the workers suspected to be behind the murder.

He said they suspect the two were killed on Saturday evening and their bodies dumped in a nearby latrine.

Relatives contacted police after realizing the two were missing, prompting police to launch a search.

“We are pursuing ‘workers’, we are moving in the right direction and soon we will arrest the culprits,” said Mr. Makau.

The police boss noted that detectives from homicide were working closely with other security agents to unravel the motive behind the murder of the couple.
