OPPO launches new phone with bezel-less design and 20MP selfie camera

Nairobi, KENYA: Mobile phone Company OPPO has launched a new phone called F 5 that comes with AI beautification selfie feature that uses artificial intelligence to produce realistic beautiful selfies and other facial features.

Speaking during the launch on Monday, OPPO Kenya brand manager Jesse Wu said that the mobile company is focused on selfie technology in a bid to make sure that it fits the demand of Kenyan consumers.

“Our focus has always been on bringing the best photography and selfie experience to Kenya consumers,” Wu said.

Some of the features of this phone include artificial intelligence selfie which identifies shapes and facial structure, artificial beauty recognition, facial unlock,6.0 inches screen, noise reduction software and FHD full screen.

The pre-order dates of the new phone that will be retailing at sh. 31,990, are from 21st November and the first sale date will be on 28th of November.

Speaking during the launch on behalf of Communication Authority of Kenya Francis Wangusi, CA assistant director of technology Paul Kiage urged mobile phone companies to take advantage of the conducive environment in the country to thrive in investing in the ICT sector.

He said that the commission will be partnering with Kenya Revenue Authority and Kenya Bureau of Standards to crack down on mobile phone vendors who sell fake mobile phones.

He urged the vendors to make sure that they display their operating and business certificates in their premises in order to bring sanity in the sector.

Also, ICT principal secretary Sammy Itemeere said that the government has set aside 1.2 billion shillings to enhance network gaps affecting 164 sublocations in some parts of North Eastern and Northern Kenya.
