Nairobi, KENYA: Police have arrested two Kenya Airways staff with 20 kilograms of substances believed to be narcotics at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.

According to Anti-Narcotic police unit Hamisi Masa, the two, who are both males, were arrested on Thursday morning as they were about to board flight KQ 542, which was scheduled to fly to Cotonou, Benin at 8 am.

According to KQ statement, they said they are aware of the incident and they are investigating the matter as well as working with the relevant authorities to get into root cause of this.

“Kenya Airways adheres to all regulations and laws of Kenya and the countries it operates in. In addition, all members of crew are trained on these regulations and laws and are expected to adhere to them at all times,” the national carrier said.

This is the second kind of incident to happen in less than a month involving KQ staff. Two weeks ago, two other cabin crew were arrested with drugs as they planned to depart to China.
