Mombasa,KENYA: Modern Coast Bus Company has halted its operations in Kisumu and Migori due to the political climate being experienced in those areas after the repeat of the October presidential election.

The company has  decided to use Bungoma and Eldoret route to Kampala.

Speaking to Baraka fm on phone, Modern coast bus PR manager Mr. Jervis Sunday said that there buses wont operate in those routes until their security is guaranteed. He stated that instead, they have changed routes and introduced new ones.

“There are some places that we’ve started conducting our operations places like Kisii, and our services in Kampala will be carried through Bungoma and Eldoret” said Sunday.

He urged the government to improve the current situation in those areas before they normalize their operations.

“We have called off the operation in those areas until we get information on security matters from the government and that’s when we’ll continue with our business in those places” he said.

“But we will start our operations in those areas starting this Friday God willing” he added.

This comes a few days after another Mombasa based bus company-Mash, halted its operations in Nyanza saying it could not guarantee the safety of its customers and vehicles.

Chaos rocked Kisumu and Migori after the repeat polls as protesters blocked major highways hence making it difficult and dangerous for travelers using the route.
