Kampala,UGANDA:The East African community has congratulated Kenyan president elect Uhuru Kenyatta over his re-election following Kenya’s repeat presidential polls.
The congratulatory message was sent through the community chairman Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni.
On behalf of the EAC that I chair, I congratulate H.E. @UKenyatta upon his re-election as President of Kenya in the recent repeat poll.

Kenyatta garnered over 98% of the votes in a polls marked by 39% voter turnout a drop from the turnout in the annulled August 8th polls.
Your re-election is a clear testimony of the trust you have earned from the people of Kenya and appreciation of efforts you have made towards development of your country and region for the last five years,” Reads part of the statement .
Museveni also promised to work together Kenyatta to improve the region.
“I look forward to continue working with you to strengthen the brotherly relations and cooperation between our two countries as well as other EAC partner states” Reads another part.
Burundian president Pierre Nkurunziza also sent his congratulatory message to president Kenyatta.
