Uhuru leading with 7.1 M in vote tallying

National, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta who is also the Jubilee presidential candidate in a repeat of presidential elections is leading with 7,160,140 with a percentage of 98.32, by Sunday evening.

The National Super Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga who withdrew from the race has garnered 67,765 votes with 0.93 percent.

Other presidential candidates including Ekuru Aukot garnered 19,765 votes, Abdiba Dida with 12,684 votes while Japhet Kaluyu’s votes stand at 7,850 votes.

224 constituencies votes have been counted out of a total of 291 constituencies and voter turn out percentage stands at 43.39.

As per IEBC, there are 7,283,268 valid votes while 35,996 votes were rejected.

The national tallying and verification of exercise is ongoing at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi as Kenyans await the IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati to announce the presidential results on Monday.
