Armed robbers steal sh1.5m from a warehouse in Majengo

Mombasa, KENYA: Three armed robbers on Tuesday made away with over sh 1.5 million in cash after storming a warehouse in Majengo area in Mombasa.

The three man gang who were using a motorcycle, were following a businesswoman who had withdrawn sh 1.1 million from Equity bank to buy second hand clothes in the said premises.

Police said the suspects parked their motorcycle outside the shop and went inside and started pointing a gun at the shop owners.

The other businesswoman inside the shop told police she had sh 300,000 in cash which was in the drawer and she intended to bank the money after serving her customers.

Mombasa urban police Lucas Ogara confirmed the incident saying police officers have been deployed to follow the suspects.

He said the suspects later escaped using a tuktuk which was parked outside the shop leaving their motorcycle.

One of the suspects was armed with an Ak 47 riffle, added police. Boss

“We have taken care of the motorcycle which was left by the gunmen, we are now hunting them as we are pursuing crucial leads,” said police boss.
