Nairobi,KENYA:The government has banned National super alliance (Nasa) demonstrations in Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa central business district (CBDs).

Addressing the media in Nairobi, acting internal security CS Fred Matiang’i said the move is aimed at stopping destruction and looting of properties in the continued demonstrations.

Matiang’I stated that police have been notified to outlaw demonstrations in CBDS.

“We will not allow demonstrations in Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu CBDs. The Inspector General has been notified accordingly’, he said.

According to the CS, many businesses have been shut down and others destroyed due to unruly protesters.

“We have noted with great concern the escalation of lawlessness, breach of peace and destruction of properties in protests organized by Nasa in Kisumu, Homabay, Siaya and Nairobi”, he said.

He also warned the protesters against attacking police officers stating that firm action will be taken against them.

The CS also said the government will sue Nasa CEO Norman Magaya over destruction of property and looting witnessed on Wednesday in Nairobi during the demonstrations.
