Kilifi, KENYA: The Jubilee campaigns in Kilifi County seem to have hit a stumbling block as the leaders are said to be at loggerheads over kingpinship.

According to Mining Cabinet Secretary Dan Kazungu, who spoke to Baraka FM on Thursday,  Coast Jubilee leaders have turned their focus away from campaigns for the party’s presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta.

He said the key mandate for all the parties supporting president Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto is to deliver votes, contrary to the ongoing in-house supremacy wars for the coast point man.

Speaking in Langobaya in Malindi constituency during an elders meeting to woo support for the president, he clarified that he is not interested in being the kingpin or point man of the coast as others think.

“I don’t want political supremacy, Dan Kazungu is not interested in being the Kingpin or point man, I only want votes for Uhuru Kenyatta,” Kazungu said.

“Some leaders are speculating and even went to the press saying I am fighting fellow Kilifi county leaders allied to the Jubilee party to get popularity, which is totally a lie,” he added.

Kazungu said the Deputy President was clear during his recent Coast visit, where he urged all leaders to keep aside their position and work hard for the victory of President Kenyatta.

He said he came to sit with the elders to plan, because a community that does not sit to plan is lost; adding that the elders would help in setting the political agenda for Coast and the next move that people should take.

Currently, he said Kilifi County and Coast at large risks to be left behind in matters development with Nyanza, for their opposition stand.

Also, present at the meeting was Phillip Charo the Jubilee party candidate for Malindi, Dr.Phillip Chula a scholar and coordinator of presidential campaigns in Malindi and Magarini, Edward Karani the coordinator of Malindi constituency.
