London, ENGLAND; English Premier League reigning champions Chelsea completed a last minute signing of midfielder Danny Drinkwater from Leicester City as the summer transfer window shut down on Monday night.

The Blues coughed off £35m for the England international who will linked up with his former teammate Ngolo Kante whom he partnered with two years ago when Leicester City made history by winning their maiden Premier League title.

Meanwhile Chelsea failed in their bid to sign Everton midfielder Rose Barkley with the player declining to sign a contract with the Blues despite the two clubs agreeing a transfer fee of £35 million.

Other deals that stalled saw Manchester City fails to land their long term target Alexis Sanchez who could not be allowed to leave Arsenal duo to technical issues.

This after Monaco’s Thomas Lemar turned down a move to Arsenal despite the two parties agreeing a club record fee of £92m for the player who was also a target for Liverpool and Barcelona.

The biggest transfer on the last day however was Kylian Mbappe joining French giants PSG on season long loan deal and will sign for £166m next summer.
