Nairobi,KENYA:  Kenya successfully retained the overall team title at the 16th edition of the East Africa Secondary School Games whose curtain came down in Gulu, Uganda at the weekend.

This is after collecting a total of 28 medals; 11 gold, seven silver, and 10 bronze beating the hosts who finished second with the same number of medals but with nine gold.

Kenyan Schools starred in most disciplines contested for among them hockey where Sinyolo defended the girls’ title while national champions St Cecilia Misikhu and finalists St Joseph’s Girls Kitale winning silver and bronze in that order.

Kisumu Day made history in boy’s hockey by winning their maiden regional trophy after topping the table with 14 as second placed St Charles Lwanga Kasasa taking home silver, while five-time champions St Anthony’s Kitale settled for bronze.

Kenya extended its dominance in Rugby where it won both the 7s and the 15s versions, thanks to Muhuri Muchiri and Laiser Hill Academy triumphs.

Little known Muhuri against all odds downed Uganda’s Jinja SS 14-7 in the 7s final before Laiser Hill cruised past St. Mary’s Kisubi 64-0 in the 15s final.
