
Nairobi, KENYA: Thirteen-time Kenyan Premier League winners AFC Leopards come up against second division tier side Vihiga United in the first semi-final of the Gotv Shield tournament.
Leopards booked a spot in the last four by showing class and determination as they trounce minnows, University of Nairobi’s Wazito FC 7-1 at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.
Burundian import Alex Kitenge was the main assassin, scoring a hat-trick with Marcellus Ingotsi nodding a brace in addition to a goal each from Mike Kibwage and Samuel Ndung’u.
Meanwhile, Vihiga United cruised to the semi-final by tossing out the defending champions Tusker FC with a 2-0 beating in the other quarter final match played on Sunday.
The second semi-final of the competition will see Sony Sugar who edged Bandari FC 3-1 battles Kariobangi Sharks who saw off Eldoret Youth 5-0.
Apart from pocketing Sh2m, the winners of the Gotv Shield tournament also earns a ticket to represent the country in next year’s CAF Confederations Cup championship.
