Nairobi, KENYA: Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has confirmed that they are in their final stretch to announce the winner of the presidential seat in the just concluded general elections.
Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, Chebukati said that they are very committed to ensure that they perform their duty as mandated by the constitution by verifying the interim results with that of form 34A from county tallying centers.
He said that so far out of 40,883 polling stations; 1,002 are yet to be delivered to the national tallying centre in Nairobi, adding that by Friday noon all form 34As’ will be received.
“114 form 34B will be projected and allowed to the public portal to be seen by the public so as to verify with the figures on the screen and raise any issue regarding the tallying,” said Chebukati
He also said that 114 of form 34B out of 290 will be projected and allowed in the portal today which represents the constituency figures at the moment.
However, he stated that they are working hard to ensure that they get final results in the shortest time possible,thus, Kenyans should continue to be patient.
He alluded that observers from all the organizations have concluded that the election was free and fair.
On the other hand ,Chebukati has refuted claims that the server was hacked citing that there was an attempt of the sort but failed in the process.
