Achoki bans Tank trucks ahead of Tuesday elections

Mombasa,KENYA:Security bosses in Mombasa have banned petroleum tankers off the roads ahead of Tuesday’s polls for security purposes till after the election exercise.

The Mombasa county commissioner Evans Achoki  on Friday during his security meeting with his officers said such vehicles are dangerous and might be used by arsonists.

“We demand all oil tankers be parked in parking yards, in designated areas ,the traffic department have been given instructions to remove such vehicles off our roads,  said  Achoki.

The county security chairman also ordered police officers and county inspectorate  officers  to get rid of all used tyres on the roads.

Mr Achoki said police officers in the county are prepared to curb any insecurity incident that may arise during the polls.

He sent a strong warning to those planning to disrupt the election that they will be met with the full force of the law.

“We are ready, we have prepared enough. If you are planning to do anything ill you will be dealt with,”Achoki said.

“We have received enough security apparatus, we have a number of men and women whom we have equipped with new firearms and  are well trained.” ,he added.
