Mombasa,KENYA:Residents in Mombasa have turned up to confirm their registration details at the poling stations level.

This follows an exercise by the IEBC to display the voter register at the polling stations.

A spot check by Baraka FM on two polling stations in Mombasa on Wednesday revealed that IEBC officers had already put up the list or were in the process of putting up the list.

At the Guru Nanak primary school polling station in Majengo area of Mombasa, Baraka FM found IEBC clerks putting up the list of registered voters at the gate.

According to an IEBC official who requested anonymity as  she was not authorized to speak to press, the exercise would give voters 7 days to confirm their details at the polling station.

Earlier the African centre for Open governance had gone to court seeking to compel the IEBC to publish the voter register.

IEBC officials have told journalists that the voter register is also available on its online platforms.

“We have a register of voters that has been gazetted and published online. It is important for the public to know all those details on polling stations and agents so that it is not a matter of conjecture but a matter of fact,” the IEBC commission CEO told journalists on Wednesday.
