New gadget introduced in schools to monitor attendance

Mombasa, KENYA: Ten schools from Mvita constituency are set to benefit from new electronic gadgets that will enhance monitoring of school attendance.

The gadget known as an eye scanner, was officially launched during a ceremony presided by Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir on Monday at Tom Mboya primary school.

The gadget is designed to store the student’s\pupils information such as full names,admission number, passport size photo,age,gender and parents’ phone number.

The gadget records when the student gets in and out of the school and immediately notifies the parent via SMS.

The Mvita MP said this program will help  in monitoring student attendance, as their has been an increase of many dodging classes.

“This  program will improve pupils performance because they will now attend classes frequently leading to good performance.” Said Nassir.

Mvita primary/ Secondary, Central Girls primary, Tom Mboya Boys Primary, Alfarsy Girls High school and Tudor day secondary school are among the schools set to benefit from the program.
